CBDfx Soft Gel Hemp Capsules

When it comes to CBD capsules/pills/tablets, the first thing we tend to look at is the CBD concentration…

The reason? Bioavailability.

Bioavailability

Each way of absorbing CBD into our body is unique. This means that the efficiency of each method is also distinct.

Ingestion – for example, taking a capsule, eating CBD chocolate – is considered to be one of the least efficient ways to take CBD.

Swallowing the capsule whole – as you are supposed to do – means that you don’t benefit from the increased bioavailability of taking CBD sublingually, as you do with CBD oil (sublingually means under the tongue by the way.)

CBD Concentration Comparison

We were impressed to see that CBDfx has not shirked on CBD concentration, with 25mg of cannabidiol in each capsule.

Per capsule, that’s 9mg more than Cibdol’s 10% CBD Softgels and a whopping 15mg more than Hempura’s Full-Spectrum Capsules and fourfivecbd’s capsules.

Only CBDistillery’s softgel capsules come in at a greater concentration of 30mg, although they are only available as an isolate in the UK so you won’t benefit from the entourage effect.

In other words, if you’re looking for CBD capsules which pack a punch, look no further.

Ingredients

There are only three ingredients in CBDfx’s CBD capsules:

• Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Oil
• MCT Oil
• Gelatine

Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Oil

“œFull-Spectrum“ is a term that is bandied around a lot in the CBD industry.

In Lehman’s terms, it means that all the original organic components of the cannabis plant are present in the final product. This includes THC.

Having said this, there are only trace amounts of THC present in CBDfx’s capsules. This is because they have used hemp oil.

The hemp plant, which is a strain of the Cannabis Sativa plant species, contains only low levels of THC naturally, with the US government defining hemp as having “œa delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 per cent on a dry weight basis“ (see section 297A).

Full-spectrum oils are considered to be more potent than broad-spectrum and isolate CBD products due to the entourage effect: full-spectrum CBD is greater than the sum of its parts.

However, while we know that there is less than 0.3 per cent THC in these capsules, we do not know the total amount.

Carrier Oil

MCT Oil is CBDfx’s chosen carrier oil, which is probably the most commonly used carrier oil for CBD.

MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride meaning that the oil contains medium-length chains of fats called triglycerides.

These shorter fats have many possible health benefits and there have been several studies indicating the potential to reduce body weight and particularly body fat.

MCTs naturally occur in coconut oil which is most likely the source of CBDfx’s MCT oil.

Gelatine

As with many capsules, gelatine is used to make the gel which contains the CBD oil. Unfortunately, the use of gelatine means that this product is not suitable for vegetarians.

Overall Feelings

CBDfx’s foray into the CBD capsule business is a solid one with a full-spectrum offering which packs a punch (Check our CBDfx Review for more info).

There’s not much room for innovation in this area so it’s important to have an appropriate CBD strength to ensure that customers get the proper CBD experience. In this regard, CBDfx has done well.
