fourfive is one of the most prominent brands in the UK market right now.

The company is owned and run by the England rugby player George Kruis and his former second-row partner at Saracens, Dominic Day. The two certainly know what it’s like to feel a little sore after a weekend running into other huge men, and this soreness was what lead to them founding fourfive CBD. The pair saw CBD as an alternative to loading up on anti-inflammatories after a weekend match; there have been several studies indicating the potential for CBD as an anti-inflammatory.1,2

It seems, therefore, a natural development for the team at fourfive to have added CBD capsules to their product range, given the therapeutic benefits they see the cannabinoid as having. Each capsule contains 10mg of CBD and are available to buy in bottles of either 30 or 60 capsules.

CBD Capsules – A Breakdown

CBD Capsules are covered in-depth in our CBD tablets guide, but one important thing is worth mentioning here.

Bioavailability

100% of the CBD you ingest is not absorbed into your bloodstream, in fact, those percentages are far lower. Unfortunately, taking CBD orally is one of the methods with the lowest bioavailability, especially when you’re not holding it under your tongue for sublingual absorption (like CBD tinctures).

That’s why it’s important that your capsules pack a punch and have enough CBD in them to give you the effect you’re looking for. The fourfive team suggests taking their capsules with food to aid with absorption.

How Do fourfive’s Capsules Fair?

When it comes to concentration, fourfive’s offerings are on the weaker end of the spectrum at 10mg per capsule, especially when you compare this to CBDfx’s 25mg and CBDistillery’s 30mg offerings.

Having said this, you can always take two capsules for double the dosage!

What’s more, when you compare the cost per mg, the price between fourfive and other, stronger capsules is not too different, although the stronger capsules are slightly better value-for-money.

In summary, fourfive’s capsules are probably better for those looking to have more flexibility with their CBD intake rather than going for the strongest variations straightaway.

Ingredients

There are three components that make up fourfive’s CBD capsules:

• Full Spectrum Hemp Cannabis Extract (CBD and other cannabinoids)
• Inulin
• Vegetable Capsule

CBD Isolate

Unfortunately, due to the onset of CBD being classed as a novel food, there are many more restrictions regarding what you can and cannot include in CBD products. fourfive has taken the cautious approach to use only CBD isolate in their products, which is a shame as this misses out on the potential entourage effect additional cannabinoids can bring. It is particularly disappointing in the case of these capsules as they were previously broad-spectrum capsules with CBDA and CBDV included too.

In each vegetable-based capsule, there is 10mg of CBD Isolate that has been CO2 extracted from hemp and inulin – a natural fibre and probiotic that is considered to be beneficial for a healthy gut.

Overall Feeling

fourfive’s CBD capsules do what they say on the tin. The added inulin is a nice touch for wellness-conscious consumers. Unfortunately, the novel food legislation has made its mark at fourfive and it’s a shame to see them ditch broad-spectrum CBD for isolate but it’s good to see a brand adhere to the rules so closely. It must be said, however, that 10mg of CBD is not particularly strong in comparison to other CBD capsules.
