Canadians Unite!
Shrove Tuesday, or better known as Pancake Day, is a great day to try this Fluffy Canadian CBD Pancake Recipe. It is possibly one of my favourite UK celebrations that I have got to experience since moving here five years ago. That’s because I still get to incorporate my Canadianism along with this tasty celebration!
I’m in no way an amazing cook, but I have always received tons of compliments when I make these delicious and incredibly simple to make pancakes. Obviously, they are best paired with maple syrup (in my humble opinion), but you can top them with whatever your heart desires. Also, I apologise for not using UK standards of measurement. I am Canadian, after all.
CBD Or Not To CBD?
While we are a website dedicated to everything CBD related, this recipe does not contain any CBD at all. This is because I wanted to leave the option open for those who just want a standard Canadian Fluffy Pancake recipe.
The recipe does call for butter though. That way, if you would like to make CBD infused pancakes, you can always use this CBD Butter recipe first and then incorporate your CBD infused butter into this recipe. You can also, add a few drops of a flavoured CBD Oil to your syrup to create a delicious CBD infusion!
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups plain flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tbsp butter, melted and cooled
- 1-1/3 cups milk
- butter for frying
Method
In a small mixing bowl, beat the eggs, melted butter and milk. In a separate mixing bowl, add all of the dry ingredients and stir. Then make a well in the dry ingredients and slowly add in the mixed liquids and whisk all together.
I like to transfer the batter into a jug or pitcher to make things easier when pouring it into the frying pan. You can spoon it into the pan if you prefer, but it is usually a little messier.
Let the batter sit for about 20 mins beforehand.
In a non-stick frying pan, heat to a medium-high setting and melt about a teaspoon of butter. Pour the batter into the pan and let it sit until you see the batter bubbling (check out the image above). Then it is time to flip your pancake!
Then it’s just a matter of adding your favourite toppings and enjoying!
